I'm trying to get the data out of the RTE and I'm getting the following error:

A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$editor="<?xml version="1.0" ...").

When I save a word document to HTML using DocIO it has the <?xml version="1.0" ... at the beginning of the html. and I've populated the editor with the html from that save...

Is there a work around?

Hi,

I want users to copy-paste images on browser (just like Word).

This control works perfectly on Firefox v5. But, it doesn't allow copy-paste images on IE8.

I believe, it's mostly related to IE8. I've already enabled options like 'Allow clipboard access by Script' and added site under Trusted zone but still the issue is coming.

Please help on this as it's really critical issue for me.

Hi guys, I have a question what object type is "richeditor"? because Im alerting richeditor.toHtmlString() and it says undefined. :S

I've just download the control and not sure how to use it. If you have any link that will help me too.

The last code update to this project was back in 2008 and there were known issues with the control back then. The primary developer and myself are not actively updating the control. Do note that there are potential XSS security vulnerabilities with this control unless you validate and/or filter any form inputs from it on the server. It would take a lot of work to get this where it needs to be.

There are other great WYSIWYG web editors for ASP.NET available. One alternative to look at is the HTMLEditor that is a part of recent versions of the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit which can be found here on CodePlex.

All that being said, it was a lot of fun contributing to this control and it remains an interesting collection of code to take a look at and learn from.

I've noticed a difference in operation between the no-source version available for download and the source code version, and I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or if there's a difference in the code between the two.

If I use the no-source version and load text into the editor, it views the text in the original font and size. Also, if the colour palette or emoticons palette are viewed they are in the correct location, just under the calling button and to the left.

However, when I use the source code version, the font of the loaded text defaults to Times New Roman 12 pt and the palettes are to the far left of the screen, with the leftmost column off screen.

I am using Visual Studio 2010 and my .NEt framework version is 4. Thinking it might be a framework versioning issue, I made sure ot try loading the project as version 2 and compiling accordingly. Has anyone else seen this behaviour, or does anyone have a solution? I've been trying to sort this out for over a day now and can't find what's wrong.

without CopyText() function , channges cannot b found after the postback.

this function actually copies the content from client to the viewstate of the control and so it becomes available at serverside.

do this in the onClientClick event "CopyText();"

and in onClick event you will find the html text in rteObject.Text property.

Hello,

I want to set the "onpaste" Event to the RichtTextEditor.
Is it possible?

The Problem is, that the fontsize should ever be 10pt. (I deleted the listbox with the fontsizes)
When somebody pastes formatted text from Word, the fontsize will be takeover to the RTE.
I will reformat the pasted text to 10pt.

I get this error "htmlfile: Unexpected call to method or property access." when I run the page that hosts the control. It breaks here

p.appendChild(ColorDialog.uiElement);

Any idea what's going on? Anyone else encountered this?
